James Long is a New Jersey based Sculptor where he lives with his wife Anne and daughter Clover. Long's work explores the use of simple utilitarian forms that when together convey a greater meaning. 

James' paintings are a recent foray for Long that explore the creation of graphic language as expressed through the art work of children. While working in the New York Public Schools and in India with street children, Long became fascinated by a child's development of schema. As a means to understand this process Long began appropriating his student's images.
